So…I’m a screen printer.
“Oh…you print T-shirts!”
Well, no…I don’t print T-shirts.
I have been making a living with “screen process” printing for over 35 years printing
things like wallcoverings, fabrics for residential and commercial applications, signage
of all types…banners, taxi advertisements, vehicle wraps, and my favorite substrate
and personal art form, ceramics.
Ceramic tiles for sinks and counters, floors, walls, pool tiles…..from little single
2×2 inch squares all the way up to 24×24 porcelain panels. Lamp bases, sinks,
even fancy toilets have entered the shop as plain, simple ware, and left new and
unique with hand screened and applied decorations.
I create original artwork, generate films, expose my own screens, do my own set-ups,
clean-ups, color work, and even screw-ups from time to time… it’s all part and
parcel of the surprise of creating a finished product. One that I can take pride in
and have fun making.
My intentions and hopes for this blog post includes sharing thoughts, ideas, and
creative inspiration that friends and customers can tap into. For those of you that have
a “creative side” for decoration, but don’t have access to the equipment, I want to share
my experience and maybe even partner a project with you. That counter top or
BBQ island, bath, shower or garden wall that you want, even if it’s totally unique and
custom, can happen for you in tile and ceramic surfaces…..and….it doesn’t have to
“break the bank”.
